We are Danielle, Angela and Jenny, Family Development Workers. We provide informal family support through fun family activities, which aim to encourage children’s development by focusing on the 5 Every Child Matters outcomes (be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic well being) and the Early Years Foundation Stage principles. We work closely with partnership organisations to provide activities and services which enrich, strengthen, promote and support families in the South Reading community.
 
What do we do?

Every two months we publish our newsletter Snippets detailing our full programme of activities.

For details of our Weekly Activities, which run during school term time, click here. Please note you will need to book any weekly activity marked with a star *.

In the school holiday periods we provide activities for the whole family, older brothers and sisters are welcome to come along with their SureStart aged siblings (under 5’s). Please click here for our holiday activity programme. Please note all holiday activities need to be booked.

We also provide training opportunities including IT, ESOL and English & Maths as well as courses such as First Aid and other adult activities such as Craft and Keep Fit. We provide a crèche which runs alongside the courses for adults. It is Ofsted registered and has friendly, experienced and qualified staff.

We are also available for help and advice and can direct you to other services.

How to contact us
For more information please call us on 0118 937 5777 or come to the Community Development Team office (located in the SureStart Whitley part of South Reading Youth and Community Centre). The best time to see us is during our booking sessions which are Monday to Thursday 11.30am – 1 pm, however we are open from 9 am – 5pm, Monday to Friday so if you would like to see us outside of booking times please call ahead to check our availability.
